PSC Engages Colombo-Guyanese Chamber of Commerce on Business and Investment Opportunities

PSC Chairman Capt. Gerald Gouveia Jr. Engages Colombian Business Delegation on Investment and Partnership Opportunities in Guyana

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) today (yesterday) met with the Colombo-Guyanese Chamber of Commerce and a nine-member Colombian business delegation representing seven companies across several key sectors.

PSC Chairman Capt. Gerald Gouveia Jr. and Honorary Secretary Josephine Tapp-Rutherford represented the Commission at the meeting.

Discussions focused on strengthening Guyana-Colombia business ties and identifying opportunities for investment, partnerships and knowledge exchange across energy and power distribution, recycling, construction, aviation, tourism, agriculture and logistics.

The Colombian delegation shared expertise in electrical solutions, recycling, construction materials, roofing and wall systems, scaffolding, rapid-deployment structures and other specialized services.

The meeting also explored opportunities to establish local partnerships and consortiums, including potential collaboration on a recycling facility being explored with support from the IDB.

Agriculture and tourism were highlighted as areas with significant potential, including opportunities in flowers, bananas, hydroponics, aquaculture, ecotourism, hospitality, cold storage and logistics, particularly given Guyana’s access to the wider CARICOM market.

The PSC will facilitate connections between the visiting companies and relevant Guyanese chambers, business associations, sector stakeholders and potential local partners, while exploring opportunities for collaboration in existing and emerging private-sector consortiums.

Both sides welcomed continued engagement aimed at developing meaningful business partnerships and advancing investment opportunities in Guyana.
